This dairy free coleslaw is creamy and sweet, but not too sweet. This is my mother’s recipe that I grew up on, and it is a great side salad for anything from cookouts to fried chicken.
I’ve seen recipes for coleslaw that include mustard and vinegar. In my family, we keep it simple by just adding mayo and sugar.
This is my mom’s recipe and the one that I grew up on, so in my opinion, nothing beats it.
This dairy free coleslaw is a great side salad for anything from grilled chicken to dairy free fried chicken.
Is coleslaw dairy?
Usually not. Some people think it is since it contains mayonnaise, and a lot of people think mayonnaise is dairy because it contains egg.
However, eggs are actually not dairy at all.
Dairy is defined as milk from a cow or other domestic animals (such as sheep or goats) or a milk product such as ice cream, cheese, butter, ghee, or yogurt.
So, if something contains milk or a product made from milk, it is dairy.
Therefore, as long as the mayonnaise does not contain dairy in it, it is dairy free.
What’s the difference between coleslaw and cabbage salad?
The main difference is that while coleslaw traditionally uses mayonnaise, cabbage salad may use a variety of dressings.
